Wake County Offers Additional Weekend Testing Event in Raleigh

Free drive-thru COVID testing THIS Saturday & Sunday

Wake County is bringing additional testing to the community this weekend – revisiting a Raleigh church that previously hosted successful testing days last month. Wake County is once again partnering with Raleigh Gethsemane Seventh-Day Adventist Church to provide no-cost drive-thru testing for this Saturday and Sunday, December 5 and 6.

“We want to make testing easily available in the communities where access may be limited – such as southeast Raleigh or near downtown,” said Wake County Medical Director Dr. Kim McDonald. “Partnering with churches helps us bring COVID-19 testing to communities conveniently and safely.”

  • DECEMBER 5 & 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Raleigh Gethsemane Seventh-Day Adventist Church
2525 Sanderford Road in southeast Raleigh

This free service provides an easy and efficient way for residents to learn if they have the virus. You can visit wakegov.com/testing to secure a specific time slot. When you arrive, simply pull into the parking lot and you’ll be registered while you sit in your vehicle.

What do you need to bring? Please bring some form of ID for each person being tested, including children. It doesn’t have to be a photo ID or a government-issued ID. It can be a utility bill, a piece of mail with your name and address on it, a child’s school record, etc. You can bring the actual paper document, or you can pull the record up on your mobile phone and simply show us.

How do we actually test? We’ll hand you a short swab and you’ll be asked to swab the lower part of your nose several times. Then you’ll put the swab in a vial and hand it back to us. It takes seconds.

How do I get my results? You’ll be given a card with information about how to go online and get your results.

Wake County continues to offer other testing sites. We just opened testing at 5809 Departure Drive in Raleigh. At this location, you’ll find both indoor and curbside testing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Again, we ask residents to go online to sign up for a slot.

The popular no-cost drive-up testing continues to be offered Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sunnybrook Parking Deck, 2925 Holston Lane in Raleigh, and at Radeas Lab’s location on 907 Gateway Commons Circle in Wake Forest. Beginning next Monday, Dec. 7, testing hours at that Wake Forest location will change to 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary at either of those two drive-thru locations.
