The Wake County Department of Tax Administration appraises real estate and personal property within the county, as well as generating and collecting the tax bills. The department also collects gross receipts taxes. COVID-19 Office Update

The Tax Administration office is now open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. to assist taxpayers in person.

When entering the Wake County Justice Center, each person will be required to:

  • Enter through a security checkpoint and screening process which includes a temperature check and responding to COVID related questions.
  • Wear a face mask and social distance at all times while inside the Justice Center.

Please note that due to screening and distancing requirements, service may take longer than normal. We appreciate your patience as we do our part to keep our guests and staff safe.

Customers are encouraged to conduct their business online, by phone or through the mail, if possible. Please view our payment options available for your convenience, including the ability to pay by bank draft, debit or credit card.
