Waste & Recycling

Wake County’s Solid Waste Management Division provides waste disposal and recycling drop-off services to residents and businesses in Wake County, as well as an array of award-winning outreach and education programs. Last year, 551,000 tons of garbage was disposed of in the South Wake Landfill, and 39,000 tons of materials for recycling were collected at Wake County Waste and Recycling Facilities.

Service Update

Convenience Center 6 at 3913 Lillie Liles Road in Wake Forest is temporarily unable to accept bulky waste because of equipment failure. Customers who need to dipose of bulky items such as furniture or mattresses should take them to one of the following nearby sites:

  • Site 7, 9024 Deponie Drive in Raleigh
  • Site 8, 2001 Durham Road/Highway 98 in Wake Forest

Facilities Hours of Operations

All facilities are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day.
