Waste & Recycling

Wake County’s Solid Waste Management Division provides waste disposal and recycling services to residents and businesses in Wake County, as well as an array of award winning outreach and education programs. Last year, the division landfilled 557,000 tons of garbage and collected 38,000 tons of materials for recycling at drop-off sites.

Service Update

All Wake County Solid Waste facilities will open at 10 am on Monday, January 24, 2022. Convenience Centers will close at 7 pm. The Household Hazardous Waste Facilities and Multi-Material Recycling Facilities located at North Wake and South Wake will close at 4 pm.

Facilities Hours of Operations

All facilities are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day.
