Waste & Recycling

Wake County’s Solid Waste Management Division provides waste disposal and recycling drop-off services to residents and businesses in Wake County, as well as an array of award-winning outreach and education programs. Last year, 551,000 tons of garbage was disposed of in the South Wake Landfill, and 39,000 tons of materials for recycling were collected at Wake County Waste and Recycling Facilities.

Service Update

Convenience Center 3 at 266 Aviation Parkway in Morrisville is temporarily unable to accept trash. Customers with trash should take it to Convenience Center 2 at 6120 Old Smithfield Road in Apex. 

Convenience Center 8 at 2001 Durham Road/Highway 98 in Wake Forest is also temporarily unable to accept trash because of broken equipment. Customers with trash should dispose of it at Convenience Center 7 at 9024 Deponie Drive in Raleigh.

Facilities Hours of Operations

All facilities are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day.
