As Wake County's population continues to surge and climate becomes increasingly unpredictable, the need for a comprehensive plan to ensure long-term water security is more pressing than ever. That’s why Wake County's Water Quality team is extending its online survey until May 8 to provide more people a final opportunity to weigh in and share their feedback on their water concerns.

“Everyone’s perspective is critical in this effort,” said Shinica Thomas, chair, Wake County Board of Commissioners. “Take a few minutes to share your thoughts and be a part of creating a thriving water future for Wake County. As a community, we all share the responsibility of preserving water for future generations. We need the voice of each and everyone in this important mission."

County leaders want to learn about the community’s water worries on important topics such as access to clean water, flooding issues, water quality concerns and recreational waters. With the survey responses they can work to create a water strategy that will be turned into actions to protect drinking water supply, conserve groundwater, mitigate the risk of flooding and prepare for climate impacts.

The county has received over 800 responses so far and is urging more people to take part. The survey only takes a few minutes. It does not ask for any personal or confidential information. Whether you live in the county, have a business or farm or are part of a community organization – Wake County wants to hear from everyone.
