Help plan the new Swift Creek Greenway!

Wake County is asking for residents’ help to plan a 6-mile section of the Swift Creek Greenway linking Raleigh and Garner. The section, which will be accessible to walkers, runners and cyclists, will follow Swift Creek from Lake Wheeler Park to Vandora Springs Road in Garner where the trail will connect to the town’s South Garner Greenway Extension.

When complete, the Swift Creek Greenway will serve as an alternate transportation opportunity, connect residents to nature, provide an environmental education resource, and create new recreational opportunities between Apex, Cary, Raleigh and Garner. The design process will take approximately one year, wrapping up in spring 2024. Construction would be dependent on future funding.

Design on the Swift Creek Preserve, a separate project, started in fall 2022 and will continue and be incorporated as part of the overall Swift Creek Greenway Plan.
