Star Party at the American Tobacco Trail

The words "Star Party" over a starry background

Saturday, April 6, 6:30–9:30 p.m.

White Oak parking area (1305 White Oak Church Road)

Join us for the NC Science Festival’s Statewide Star Party, themed “Sun & Moon”!

Take part in fun, hands-on activities, including a solar system walk, crafts, games, and a selfie station.  As the sun goes down, enjoy constellation storytelling around the campfire and observe the night sky through telescopes (set up by experts) and binoculars. Certified-safe solar eclipse viewing shades will be available first come, first served!

This FREE Star Party event is hosted by Wake County’s American Tobacco Trail staff partnering with the Agape Center for Environmental Education, Girl Scout Troop 2584, and the Green Level Astronomy Club and Science National Honor Society. All ages and skill levels are welcome! Bring your curiosity, water bottle, chair and/or blanket and your own viewing instrument (if you have one). Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy beforehand if you wish.

This event will take place on the back field of the White Oak parking area under the stars. Registration is not required!

The Statewide Star Party is made possible with the support of NC Space Grant and the NC Science Festival.

This is a great opportunity for Junior Park Explorer credit!

No pets, except service animals, are permitted.
