Laboratory Sciences Division

The Laboratory Sciences Division maintains an evidence-receiving unit and is responsible for analyzing evidence for the following forensic disciplines:

  • Impression evidence (fingerprints and palmprints)
  • Forensic drug chemistry 
  • Blood alcohol analysis 
  • Blood drug analysis 
  • Digital evidence analysis 
  • Forensic photography
  • Firearms examination
  • DNA analysis (under construction)

Laboratory Services

The CCBI Laboratory Division provides forensic analysis services, upon request, to all law enforcement agencies having jurisdiction in Wake County or regarding any investigation being conducted under the jurisdiction of the Wake County District Attorney.

CCBI only accepts requests from law enforcement and/or prosecutorial entities on behalf of active criminal investigations. CCBI does not accept evidence at the request of the public or attorneys.
