Wellness Offerings for Retirees

Employee Health Center

Wake County Retirees can take advantage of the offerings and services provided by the Employee Health Center!

Primary Care and Urgent/Acute Sick Care

Primary care includes biometric screenings, annual physical, well-woman exams, routine lab services, immunizations and more.

Urgent/Acute Sick care includes cough, fever, sore throat, cold and flu symptoms, earaches, skin rashes and much more!

Virtual Visits are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are not able to visit the Employee Health Center during regular business hours, a virtual visit is a great alternative. To schedule your free virtual visit, log on to your account at myPremiseHealth.com and follow these instructions.

Counseling and Coaching Services*

Wellness Coaching: The Employee Health Center offers one-on-one wellness coaching for lifestyle behaviors. You can meet with the Wellness Coach to discuss your personal goals and together the two of you will identify a personalized plan to help you with Weight Management, Stress Management, Nutrition, Physical Activity, Work/Life Balance, Tobacco Cessation and overall Life Satisfaction.

Condition Care Management: The Employee Health Center offers expanded Condition Care Services. The designated Condition Care Manager can assist with any of the following health conditions: Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Coronary Heart Disease, Obesity, Asthma, Osteoarthritis and more.

Behavioral Health Counseling: The Employee Health Center offers one-on-one behavioral health counseling with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Diabetes Management Program

Discover the benefits of Be Well with Diabetes, a cost-free diabetes management program, available through Wake County’s Employee Health Center! As a program participant, you will receive free access to specialized services, tools and resources for successful diabetes management, including: 

  •  In-person and virtual appointments with a diabetes expert at the Employee Health Center
  • No-cost testing supplies 
  • 24/7 glucose monitoring 
  • Timely reminders for care and lab work 
  • Ongoing education and lifestyle coaching
  • Personalized care integrated with your primary care provider

COVID-19 Vaccinations and Boosters

Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are available for free at both Employee Health Center locations. To schedule your appointment, call the Employee Health Center at 919-856-5600. Don’t forget to bring your COVID-19 vaccination card!

Swinburne: 220 Swinburne St., Suite 1098, Raleigh, NC 27610

The EHCs are open Monday through Friday. Hours of operation are:

  • Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, 7:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
  • The centers are closed daily from noon to 12:30 p.m. for lunch.

Virtual Offerings

Fitness Classes
Virtual Fitness classes, including Zumba and Pilates, are available. If you are interested in participating, please email livinggreat@wake.gov for the participation link. Participants will be asked to complete a fitness waiver prior to participating.

Financial Wellness Seminars
Virtual Financial Wellness seminars are available. Topics include: Budgeting Basics, Understanding Credit & Debt, Preventing Identity Theft and much more! If you are interested in participating, please email livinggreat@wake.gov for a schedule of events.
