Wake County buildings will be lighting up green during the week of Nov. 6–12 and we encourage businesses and residents to do the same – change one light bulb in your business or house to a green bulb.
This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends.
By shining a green light, we let our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.
What is Operation Greenlight?
Operation Greenlight is a new, national collaborative initiative to support military veterans, as well as raise awareness about the unique challenges they may face.
While studies show the vast majority of Americans support our veterans, too often that support is not seen or felt by service men and women. Operation Greenlight is changing that.
How can I participate?
Showing your support is easy!
For Residents:
We are asking you to change one light bulb in your house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends.
Be sure to share your participation on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenlight!
Looking for a green light bulb? Check out your local hardware store! They can also be found in local department stores or through online retailers.
For Businesses:
Wake County encourages all cities, towns, private businesses and organizations to light their buildings in green Nov. 6–12 to show support.
You can announce your participation ahead of time via press release and through social media posts.
Use the hashtag #OperationGreenlight in your posts so others can easily find them.
