Aaron Wenzel promoted to Assistant Chief
Advanced Practice Paramedic Aaron Wenzel has been promoted to Assistant Chief. Aaron will serve as the EMS Clinical Quality Officer, responsible for managing our quality assurance programs. He will work directly with the Office of Medical Affairs team on performance improvement, research, and data analysis. Aaron is also the EMS representative to the Wake County Child Fatality Prevention Team as well as the Community Child Protection Team.
Chief Wenzel began his EMS career during the early '90s as a volunteer EMT in Pennsylvania. Aaron became employed as a Paramedic with Wake County EMS in 1999 and has served as a Paramedic, Field Training Officer, Advanced Practice Paramedic, and Relief District Chief. Aaron transitioned into his new role effective June 1, 2021.
