Raleigh, NC – The Wake County Register of Deeds is making it easier than ever to get certified copies of birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates. Starting immediately, there will now be three new locations in Zebulon, Wake Forest and Fuquay-Varina to pick up these vital records, in addition to the main Register of Deeds Office in downtown Raleigh.

“With a county the size of Wake, it’s important to offer our residents more options than just one location to get these important documents,” said Tammy Brunner, Wake County Register of Deeds. “We are happy to begin this service, albeit it long overdue.”

Wake County has regional service centers strategically located throughout the county, designed to offer a wide variety of government services under one roof. Residents can do everything from search for a job, apply for food or utility bill assistance, get help with veteran benefits or receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Now vital records will be added to that long list of services available at the Eastern Regional Center in Zebulon, Northern Regional Center in Wake Forest, and the Southern Regional Center in Fuquay-Varina.

“Vital records are important documents that everyone needs at various stages of their lives; a new mother who needs certified copies of their newborn’s birth certificate for insurance purposes, a family with a child who is about to start kindergarten, or a newlywed who needs their marriage certificate to change their last name,” said Martina Gonzalez Britt, the Vital Records Supervisor for Wake County Register of Deeds. “Now, they can visit the Regional Center closest to them to obtain those certificates. Our goal is to make county services more accessible to Wake County residents, and our partnership with these three regional centers make that happen.”

The Regional centers are only able to provide certified copies of birth, marriage and death certificates issued in Wake County. The cost of the certified copies are $10 each. If you are interested in requesting an immediate copy of any of these records, you can now come in to any of the Regional Centers or the Register of Deeds main office in Raleigh between 8:30 and 5 p.m. and walk out with a copy of these important documents! Copies can be requested online here to be sent via the U.S. Postal Service to recipients in 10 to 14 days. Requests can also be mailed in by following the instructions here.
