Raleigh, NC - Wake County Register of Deeds, Tammy Brunner announced that the Register of Deeds office has fully reopened to the public.

The Register of Deeds office has continued to provide essential government services to the public throughout the pandemic via the mail and online.

“I am proud of the staff who created efficient and successful ways for some staff to work from home and others in the office,  which created a safe environment for staff whose duties required them to work in the office. We were able to successfully service the public through courier service, the mail, and by providing virtual marriage license issuance, notary oath issuance, and other vital records assistance online.” Said Tammy Brunner

“We appreciate the patience of the public throughout this public health emergency. During the past 15 months, we have done our best to provide services while taking precautions to protect the health of our customers and staff. We are excited to reopen and welcome the public back into the office. We will continue to follow health and safety protocols to ensure you have a pleasant and safe experience.”

“In recent weeks, we have seen a significant increase in service requests, and demand is now outpacing appointment slots. As we look forward to a return to normalcy this summer and fall, we have seen an increased demand for marriage licenses and notary oaths. We also expect an increased demand for birth certificate copies with the REAL ID deadline coming up in October and with the beginning of school registration for the fall.”

Health and safety protocols include temperature scanning to enter the Wake County Justice Center and hand sanitizing stations are located at various places throughout the office. Plexiglass dividers have been installed at our counters to further provide barrier protection.

The Wake County Register of Deeds is located inside the Wake County Justice Center, 300 S. Salisbury St, Suite 1700, Raleigh, NC 27601. Customers are still encouraged to visit the website at www.wakegov.com/rod to order copies of birth, death and marriage records and other documents online or by mail.
