Share the Love with Healthcare Heroes

(This is a joint press release with the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and WRAL-TV.)

Wake County, the Raleigh Chamber and WRAL-TV are joining forces to Share the Love with our local healthcare heroes this month and beyond — and we need the community’s help to do it.

“For the past year, healthcare workers have met unprecedented challenges and changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Wake County Commissioner Sig Hutchinson. “Even now, as vaccines give us hope for a return to normalcy, our frontline healthcare workers continue in their fight to help people suffering from the virus.

“The pandemic isn’t over — it’s just entering a new phase. That’s why it’s more important than ever that we show these dedicated doctors, nurses, paramedics and other staff members just how much we appreciate them.”

Join us in this joint effort to say “thank you” to our healthcare heroes, including the teams at Duke Raleigh Hospital, UNC REX Healthcare, WakeMed Health & Hospitals and Wake County EMS.

“Our healthcare workers have gone above and beyond to care for the community during the pandemic,” said Adrienne Cole, president and CEO of the Raleigh Chamber. “The Share the Love campaign is a great way to recognize and show appreciation to the men and women who have sacrificed and worked tirelessly for all of us.”

There are many ways to participate — pick the one that works best for you!

“As a news organization, we have been covering the devastating impact of COVID-19 in our community for almost a year,” said Joel Davis, vice president and general manager of WRAL-TV and FOX 50. “Our frontline healthcare workers have been, and remain, the true heroes of this pandemic. We are hopeful this project will ensure that these community heroes know they are appreciated and celebrated.”
