Planning Board Recommends Adoption of New Wake County Comprehensive Plan

On March 3, the Wake County Planning Board recommended the Board of Commissioners adopt PLANWake – Wake County’s Comprehensive Plan. Planning Board members heard about the feedback to the draft plan that was released in the fall and the recommended changes based on input from stakeholders. Their endorsement of the plan follows a two-year public process to develop a vision for how Wake County should grow over the next decade.

The final phase of public engagement to review the proposed plan drew strong support from the public. Residents agreed or strongly agreed with PLANWake’s vision outcomes to create a county that is inclusive and equitable (73%), healthy and active (78%) and sustainable and vibrant (73%). Wake County will achieve this by working with municipalities and other stakeholders to implement the recommendations of the plan.

PLANWake is scheduled to go before the Wake County Board of Commissioners on March 15 for a public hearing and consideration of adoption. The county continues to take public comments on the plan at the PLANWake project site.
