Participation Needed in Raleigh's Southeast Special Area Study

Wake County residents are encouraged to participate in Raleigh’s Southeast Special Area Study, a long-range planning study focused on the future land use, conservation and natural resources, transportation, and public utility infrastructure of approximately 18 square miles in southeast Wake County. The study area is primarily Wake County planning jurisdiction, but it is part of Raleigh’s future growth area.

Last year, Raleigh heard from the community about vision and priorities for the study area:

  • Preserve natural resources and rural character
  • Improve travel for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians
  • Improve access to shopping and destinations

The next step is to present draft study recommendations. This is where you come in! Raleigh wants to hear your opinion. How well do the recommendations address the community vision? To view the draft recommendations and take the survey, visit raleighnc.gov and search “SE Study”. The survey is open through July 15.

GIVE FEEDBACK

WHAT ’ S NEXT?

Once they hear from the community, staff will compile the feedback into a final study report. This will be presented to Raleigh City Council, who will consider adoption of the study.
