Extreme heat or cold during the winter and summer months can cause energy costs to increase and result in high energy bills that can impact a family's budget. Water bills can also cause unexpected expenses on family finances. There are some Wake County programs that may be able to offer help for these expenses.
NC Electronic Pre-Assessment Screening Service Tool (NC ePASS)
The NC Department of Health and Human Services has developed and implemented the NC Electronic Pre-Assessment Screening Service (ePASS) tool as an online application tool to apply for Food and Nutrition Services and Medicaid through NC FAST.
Well-Testing Financial Assistance
Wake County provides financial help for well water testing to those households that meet certain income guidelines. There are also several public or nonprofit resources that may be able to help with treatment costs. Contact the individual agencies for more information.
