One Water is an integrated approach to water management.  Surface water, groundwater, wastewater and stormwater are all interconnected.   Core principles of One Water include*:

  • All water has value
  • A focus on achieving multiple benefits
  • A systems approach to water management
  • Watershed scale thinking and action
  • Right sized solutions
  • Partnerships for progress
  • Inclusion and engagement for all

Strategies to implementing a One Water approach may be organized into six different arenas for action as shown on the right. Check out our One Water project page. Visit the US Water Alliance to learn more and access additional resources and One Water publications.
