Detention Medical Mission Statement:

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office Detention Medical Services Division is dedicated to providing unimpeded access to Medical, Dental, and Mental Health Services to residents confined in all Wake County Detention Facilities. Healthcare Services are made available to all residents committed to the facility. The Medical Staff concurs that its goal is to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective healthcare services. The Medical Staff is committed to teamwork and promoting a positive work environment for both employees and residents.

Health Services

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which is the national patient privacy act, prevents medical staff from providing medical information to anyone without the written consent of the resident. 

Healthcare services are provided in the Wake County Detention Facilities and all jail residents have the right to medical care and will not be refused because of insufficient funds.
