Popular Planning Maps

Here you can view maps that have been created by Wake County Planning such as county zoning maps, land use classification maps, general classification maps and area land use plans. Also, you can view many of the maps created by the staff in their research projects. You can view municipal zoning maps and other maps by visiting the GIS maps page.

Zoning Classifications

Each zoning district or classification specifies permitted land uses and regulations controlling the intensity and design of development.

General Classifications

General Classifications maps define those areas intended and expected to be urbanized in the future. The boundaries of the watersheds and the future urban areas for the municipalities remain valid. The PLANWake Development Framework Map updates the timeline for when areas of the county are intended to become urbanized.

Land Use Classifications/Activity Centers

Land Use Classification shows the boundaries of the smaller regional areas where an area plan has been developed. Includes Activity Centers.

Covers unincorporated areas of East of Raleigh and Knightdale. The full plan is available here.

Covers unincorporated areas east of Fuquay Varina and south of Garner. The full plan is available here.

Northeast Area Land Use Plan

Covers unincorporated areas between Wake Forest and Rolesville, southeast of Rolesville and the Little River Watershed. The full plan is available here.
