Our events calendar shows upcoming events that may impact visitors in the park. These include our own major events, but also events hosted by outside organizations such as marathons.

Bridge II Sports Adaptive Cycling

Adaptive cyclists riding around the Big Hill at Green Hills County Park

Bridge II Sports will host adaptive cycling events out of the middle parking lot once per month. While some participants will use the paved trails to access the nearby Greenway and exit the property, others will use the pedestrian/cycling loop around the Big Hill.  These events will occur from 8 a.m. until noon on the following Saturdays:

  • July 9
  • August 13
  • September 10
  • October 1
  • November 5

Public Programs

Serious Skills for Adults: Creek Exploration 
Sunday, August 7, 10 a.m.–noon
Creek exploring isn’t just for kids! Leave no stone unturned as we investigate Abbott’s Creek to look for exciting wildlife and plants that calls this creek their home. We’ll figure out what are indicators for a healthy aquatic ecosystem and learn how to check water quality using easy, scientific tools. Come prepared for mucking about for this fun creek day! For 16 years & up. Counts towards NCEE Criteria II or III

Join in park staff's adventure in adult programming! Whether you are an outdoor buff wanting to hone your skills, or a dabbler who would just like to try something new, come hang with the staff and work on some Serious Skills!

Family Wildlife Series: From Landfill to Green Hill
Tuesday, Sept. 27, 9:30–11 a.m.
Always wanted to know how a landfill becomes a park? Take a short walking tour up the “big hill” and discover the history of how Green Hills came to be. Learn about how to reduce your waste and create a fun recycled craft to take home! Join us on this Teacher Workday and have some fun on our green hill!  For ages 6 years & up

Family Wildlife Series programs are open to all ages (unless noted differently), although information and activities are most appropriate for ages 5 and up.  Don’t forget – “kids not required” – unaccompanied adults are welcome in our family programs. FWS programs are free, but pre-registration is required, and all family members present must be registered.
