Sandy Pines Preserve

Sandy Pines Preserve will officially open Saturday, Oct. 23! A small ceremony will be held Saturday morning, and the preserve will be open to the public throughout the weekend.

Please note that through March 31, the preserve will be open from 8 a.m. to sunset on weekends only. Starting April 1, the preserve will be open seven days a week through Aug. 31. 

A trail map will be posted soon.

This 563-acre preserve of forests and fields is the largest single tract of land owned by Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space.

Summer hours from April 1 until Aug. 31:
8 a.m.–Sunset 
Monday–Sunday

OFF-PEAK SEASON
Winter hours from Sept. 1 until March 31:
8 a.m.–Sunset 
Saturdays and Sundays

Preserve is also open on the following holidays:

Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day

Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
