Services Available at the Western Human Services Center

The Western Health and Human Services Center offers the following services:

Children & Family Services

Health & Human Services programs provide support to families with children. These services help first-time moms prepare for birth, provide nurse home visits and additional services through the child’s first five years, and continued support to school age children and their families.

Child Care Subsidy

The Wake County Child Care Subsidy Program provides financial assistance for parents and their child care needs. The amount of child care subsidy for each family is based on an assessment of need, income and family size. Every year Wake County receives state and federal funds to be used for subsidized child care services for its residents. We also provide information about choosing and using quality child care.

Foster Care

At times, children who have been abused or neglected must be removed from their homes for their safety.  Foster Care (now called Permanency Planning) is a temporary removal.  Parents can work on getting back together (called reunification).  If a family is unable to get back together, other long-term options may include Adoption.
