Energy Camp FAQs

Where can I find the links to the videos and activities?

Links will be sent out each more via email. You can also find them at wakegov.com/energycamp.

Will materials be provided?

No, materials will not be provided. However, most of the materials are simple household items.

Will students discuss activities online?

Students will have an opportunity to ask our experts questions each afternoon as a part of our Q&A sessions. There will also be an opportunity for participants to share pictures of the activities that they complete at home. At this time, we do not have a platform for students to discuss the activities with one another.

What will happen during the camp?

This camp is meant to inspire students who would like to learn more about STEM fields, in particular energy and electricity. There will be videos from experts and at-home demonstrations each day. The material will all be self-paced at home. Students can watch any of the videos and demonstrations at any time. The Q&A sessions will occur at 4 p.m. each day.

Is the camp free?

Yes! As mentioned above, most activities can be completed with household items.

Can younger students participate?

Yes! While the camp is targeted for 4th–6th-grade students, younger participants can do some of the hands-on activities with the help of their parents.

Can older students participate?

Yes! Older students can still learn some new things while participating in this camp. (We even learned a few things during some of our recordings!)

How long will the camp last?

We will post new materials each day during the week of July 12–16. The lessons will be self-paced and take different amounts of time depending on your pace and the number of activities you choose to do. Most of the expert demonstrations are about 20 minutes long. The length of the videos demonstrating at home activities is about 5 minutes each. The amount of time it takes to complete the activity at home will vary from person to person. Our Q&A sessions are scheduled to last for up to one hour in the afternoon, but participants are not required to stay the entire time.
