Project Summary
The EMS Garner Main Station is Wake County’s new regional EMS prototype station that serves as a hub for regional EMS stations located in the greater Garner, NC area as well as providing a way to improve EMS response times to the target area along the Timber Drive corridor. The facility will include: training space, offices, a dayroom, a kitchen, three full vehicle bays for up to six response units, an exercise area, a decontamination and support space, and vehicle fleet supplies and covered parking. Sustainability features anticipated include native, draught tolerant plant materials, cool concrete pavement, storm water BMP, solar PV, energy efficient systems, and EV charging stations.
The Wake County Board of Commissioners approved an MOU with the Wake County Public School System in May of 2020 to consider developing a portion of the Timber Drive Elementary School campus for a regional EMS station. In September of 2021, the Wake County Board of Commissioners approved the schematic design for the EMS Garner Main Station. In October of 2021, the Wake County Board of Commissioners and the Wake County Board of Education agreed to enter into a 50 year ground lease for approximately 4 acres for the development of the project.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer 2022. EMS Garner Main Station will be ready to service to the community in the fall of 2023
