Fuquay-Varina Community Library Project

Project Summary

The new Fuquay-Varina Community Library replaced the existing Community Library located on 133 S. Fuquay Ave.

The facility opened in 2019 and doubled the collection size (adult and youth), housed more PC's, and offered more youth programs than the previous Community Library. Other features include WiFi, reference materials, book reservation, and self-checkout.

The program for library spaces is consistent with the programmatic model previously defined for standard branch libraries; the building program for this branch is approximately 15% larger than the standard community branch, at approximately 9,800 square feet. The additional square footage accommodates the future infrastructure required to support this facility when it grows to a regional library of approximately 21,000 square feet. This approach will limit the required demolition and minimize the impact to library patrons when the facility expands in the future.
