Wake County has adopted criteria that ensure sufficient evaluation of Public Records prior to Web publication.
Decisions to publish information are reached through a process of weighing:
(1) Legality – Publication of such information is in accordance with local, state, federal laws and regulations.
(2) Transparency
- Provide use and insight regarding Wake County's governmental processes and procedures
- Encourage active citizen participation, involvement and feedback.
(3) Efficiency – maximize taxpayer dollars while providing information and/or services over the web.
(4) Personal Privacy – minimize negative effects, such as identify fraud, as well as negative public reactions.
All decisions regarding Public Record publication are made by Wake County staff and the Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC). ITAC is a Board of Commissioners advisory group composed of Wake County citizens.
