Steps for Completing Alternative Sewage Disposal System Maintenance Schedule (ASDSMS) for Construction Authorization Completion:

All ASDSMS are required to be recorded at the Wake County Register of Deeds for properties that require the use of an alternative or innovative wastewater system for wastewater disposal that requires the system to be operated by a certified subsurface wastewater operator for the life of the system.

  1. Print and fill out completely correct version of schedule:
    All documents are on 8 inch by 14 inch legal paper and must be submitted to Register of Deeds as such.
    1. ASDSMS:  Pretreatment with any mode of subsurface wastewater dispersal
    2. ASDSMS:  Pretreatment utilized in repair system only
    3. ASDSMS:  Flow Equalization System
    4. ASDSMS:  Pretreatment with any mode of subsurface wastewater dispersal that is located in an offsite easement area
    5. ASDSMS:  Pretreatment utilized in repair system only that is located in an offsite easement area
    6. ASDSMS:  Any system (without pretreatment) that is located in an offsite easement area
    7. ASDSMS:  Any repair system only (without pretreatment) that is located in an offsite easement area
    8. ASDSMS:  Supply line located in offsite easement area 
  2. Have original paperwork notarized.
  3. Submit original paperwork to the Wake County Register of Deeds.  See website for fees, contacts and directions.
  4. Send email to Wastewater Management Staff with Book and Page number the ASDSMS document was recorded.
