Property Tax Privacy Statement

All information contained within this portion of the Wake County website is Public Record and is maintained and provided in accordance with North Carolina General Statute 132, which states, "The public records and public information compiled by the agencies of North Carolina government or its subdivisions are the property of the people. Therefore, it is the policy of this State that the people may obtain copies of their public records and public information free or at minimal cost unless otherwise specifically provided by law." Statute 132-6.2. further requires the public agency to provide copies of public records in any and all media in which the public agency is capable of providing them.

In an effort to operate a cost-effective organization in an area experiencing high growth, Wake County has automated many processes involving the collection, storage and retrieval of information. This automation allows for on-demand access, which saves users from having to visit our offices and reduces the number of staff required to provide onsite service.

As our organization is required by law to provide access to the data, any change to this requirement would have to be addressed by the North Carolina General Assembly.
