Real Estate Data Downloads

Ownership, sale information and property details for all Wake County real estate parcels may be downloaded by individual townships or as a complete County file. The data in these files is refreshed weekly. The property values provided in these files are the current 2008 revaluation assessments.

Download Complete County File

The complete County file is available as both a text and database file.

If you are using Microsoft Access version 2000 or later to import and view the data, locate the file labeled Public.exe and save it to your computer. Open the file on your computer and a new file labeled Public.mdb will automatically be created. The Public.mdb can be opened using Access 2000 or later. Use the Code Descriptions to help you define data displayed in each of the fields.

***You must have MS Access 2000 or later to use the .mdb file**

If you are using a database other than Microsoft Access 2000 or later, you will need to download the text file. Locate and right-click on the file labeled all.txt. Copy the file to your computer. Prior to opening and viewing the file, you will need to set up Import Specifications in your database program. Please follow the instructions below for Importing & Viewing Data.

Download Individual Township Files

Click on the area of the map containing the township data you wish to download and save the file to your computer. Locate the file on your computer (Example: twp14.exe) and double-click to extract the file. After successfully extracting the files, you will have multiple text files (Example: map0773.txt). Each text file contains data from an area within the township you selected. Please follow the instructions below for Importing & Viewing Data.

Importing & Viewing Data

Individual township text files may be opened and viewed in a spreadsheet (such as Excel). The larger complete County text file requires a database (such as Access) for viewing.

As the text files are formatted in a “fixed-width” format, you will need to create Import Specifications in the program you are using to view the data. Please refer to your program’s instructions on creating Import Specifications. Our Record Layout defines the starting position and name of each data field.

Once you have imported the data to your program, use the Code Descriptions to help you define the data displayed in the fields.
