Revaluation
The Wake County Revenue Department is required to reappraise real property at least once every eight years.  The last reappraisal was effective on Jan. 1, 2000; the next reappraisal will become effective on Jan.1, 2008.  Real estate values should reflect the market value of properties at the time of the last reappraisal.

The Wake County Revenue Department is responsible for listing, appraising and assessing all real estate, personal property, and registered motor vehicles within Wake County, its thirteen municipalities and related service districts. We also are charged with the duty of collecting all current and delinquent taxes on this property. In addition to property tax, the department oversees the billing and collection of the Prepared Food & Beverage Tax, Rental Vehicle Tax, Room Occupancy Tax, Special Assessments, and various licensing and permits. Read more.
