ADULT VOLUNTEERS WELCOME!
9–11:30 a.m.
Adult volunteers are invited to join Activate Good-Raleigh, Wake Soil and Water Conservation District, NC Big Sweep–Wake County, and NCDOT Adopt-A-Highway at 9 a.m. to clean litter from Raleigh Blvd. before it enters Crabtree Creek. Meet at the Middle Crabtree Creek Greenway parking lot on Crabtree Blvd. for instructions and supplies. Gloves, trash bags, safety vests, data cards, and litter reachers will be provided. Wear old clothes and closed-toe shoes that are comfortable for walking. Bring drinking water, hat, sunscreen and insect repellent.

Adult volunteers must preregister by contacting Wake Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor and Big Sweep Zone Captain Jenna Wadsworth at jenna@jennawadsworth.com or Wake County Big Sweep at 919-250-1065 or sbjones@wakegov.com. All volunteers must sign a Big Sweep liability waiver to participate.

Come out and be part of the Town of Garner’s semi-annual Big Sweep and Litter Sweep events! Volunteers are needed to help clean up the streets of Garner as well as the watershed area and shore of Lake Benson. Registration will take place in the Nature Center at White Deer Park.

All participants will receive breakfast the morning of the event.

Preregistration is encouraged. To clean Garner’s streets, contact Jaclyn Rametta at 919-773-4421 or jrametta@garnernc.gov. Saunders Street, with the option to expand this downstream or upstream if we have enough volunteers. We will also clean up the adjacent greenway along Rocky Branch. Volunteers ages 18 and up are invited to join park staff in "sweeping up" trash from around the roads surrounding Historic Yates Mill County Park to protect the Swift Creek Watershed. Please arrive at 9 a.m. and come prepared for the weather, wearing proper clothing and footgear. Since this is a roadside cleanup, volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Meet at 2 p.m. at the Loblolly Shelter. Clean up Harris Lake County Park on land or from the water! Bring your own kayak or canoe if you would like to pick up trash along the shoreline. Staff will lead volunteers along the shore of the lake and on land in the park.

Please wear sturdy shoes or boots for land clean up and boat, life jacket and water shoes for shoreline cleanup. All should bring a water bottle. Gloves, trash bags and data cards will be provided. Volunteers will work until 5 p.m.
