DWI Checking Station Statistics

The Wake County Sheriff's Office's STOP Team (Sheriff's Traffic Observation Patrol) and the Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force conducted a DWI Checking Station Saturday night, December 12, 2009, at the intersection of Falls of Neuse and Durant Road. Assisted by eight other law enforcement agencies from the Safety Task Force, the STOP Team charged 47 people with various violations including DWI, various drug charges and motor vehicle infractions. Listed below are the charges:

DWI under 21- 1
NOL- 14
DWLR- 4
Registration- 4
Child Seat- 1
Seat Belt Viol. 1
Other Traffic not Listed: 9
Other Criminal Violations: 2
Drugs (Felony)- 1
Total Charges: 47
The Wake County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the following Task Force agencies for assisting with last night's Checking Station: North Carolina A.L. E (Alcohol Law Enforcement), Cary Police Department., Fuquay-Varina Police Department, Garner Police Department, Knightdale Police Department, Raleigh Police Department, Wendell Police Department, and Zebulon Police Department.
The Wake County Sheriff's Office is a member of the Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force. This Task Force is comprised of representatives from the majority of the law enforcement agencies located in Wake County. The purpose of the task force is to afford agencies the opportunity to participate in campaigns, throughout the year, that focus on improving traffic safety in the county. These efforts concentrate on DWI enforcement, speed enforcement, seat belt enforcement, and other traffic safety initiatives.
