Budgeting & Finance
This unit records receipts of public funds received at the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. Public funds include process service fees, weapon permit fees, record fees, judgments paid, inmate trust fund, donations, grant funds, and federal forfeiture/seizure funds. This unit is also responsible for financial reporting requirements for federal and state agencies, review of Office fiscal procedures for efficiencies and internal controls. Budgeting and Finance prepares and manages the $63 million budget of the Sheriff’s Office as well as manages all contracts of the organization.
This unit orders and purchases all commodities to be used by members of the Sheriff’s Office. Purchasing also manages the accounts payables function for the organization.
This unit is responsible for employee relations, payroll, employee appreciation and recognition programs, maintenance of employee personnel records, and design and administration of the pay/classification system for the Sheriff’s Office.
Property & Inventory
Responsibilities for this unit include maintaining inventory of and issuing of equipment, uniforms, office supplies, and other supplies to all members of the Sheriff’s Office.
Planning, acquiring, implementing, and developing information technology solutions for the Sheriff’s Office falls under the Information Technology Section. The Information Technology Section has the responsibility for all technologies utilized by the Sheriff’s Office to carry out its mission.
