Sex Offender Registration

Public Protection Registration

When Sheriff Harrison took office, he recognized the need to physically verify the addresses of sex offenders. The law requires that the Sheriff's Office verify sex offender's addresses twice a year. Now, Wake County deputies physically go to the homes of sex offenders to ensure that they are living at the address listed in the registry. If deputies discover that they no longer live at that address, they will charge the sex offenders with failure to register and/or failure to notify regarding their address change. By going above and beyond what the law requires, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office wants to use every means possible to better protect and serve the citizens of Wake County.
