- The marriage license fee is $60 cash. The license is good immediately upon issuance and is valid for 60 days.
- Applicants who wish to obtain a marriage license in Wake County may complete their application online or at the Wake County Register of Deeds office located at Wake County Justice Center, 300 S. Salisbury St., Suite 1700, Raleigh, NC 27602.
- Applicants must show their valid ID, proof of social security and sign the marriage license at the Wake County Register of Deeds office. Marriage licenses are issued between 8:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding Wake County-observed holidays. It is necessary for couples to arrive at the office before 4:45 p.m. to complete the paperwork necessary to obtain a marriage license. Couples applying between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. may expect a wait time up to one hour.
Note: If you are obtaining a marriage license or birth or death certificate on a Friday or at the end of the month, please allow extra time for processing as these are high volume days in the Registry. Thank you for your patience during these peak days.
