The Wake County Register of Deeds will be administering Notary Oaths virtually, online by appointment only.

The Register of Deeds office administers Notary Public Oaths for Wake County notaries Monday through Friday virtually by appointment. You will receive notice by mail from the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State to be sworn in at the Wake County Register of Deeds office.

Where do I take my Notary Public Oath?

  • The notary oath will be administered virtually through a smartphone camera with internet access using the Google Duo App on your Android or iPhone.

Do I need an appointment?

  • Yes, our temporary office policy requires Notary Oaths to be administered virtually, by appointment only.
  • To schedule an appointment, send an email to rodvitals@wakegov.com with your notary commission name and the telephone number you can be reached on with Google Duo.
  • You will be contacted by email within 5 business days with appointment availability and directions.

What do I need?

  • Your notice from the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State's office.
  • The Notary Public Oath fee is $10.
  • You must show a valid government issued photo ID when taking the oath.
