Our Solid Waste Team provides waste disposal and recycling drop-off services to residents and businesses in Wake County, along with award-winning education programs. Last year, the South Wake Landfill accepted 530,741 tons of garbage, and our Waste & Recycling facilities recycled 40,751 tons of materials!
Service Updates
Convenience Center Site 2 at 6120 Old Smithfield Road in Apex is unable to accept cardboard because of equipment failure. Residents who need to recycle cardboard should use adjacent South Wake Multi-Material Recycling Facility at 6130 Old Smithfield Road. South Wake Multi-Material is open Monday through Saturday from 8 am until 4 pm.

Facilities Hours of Operations
All facilities are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day.
