Notice of Assessment of Corrective Measure
Wake County Solid Waste Management Division is completing an Assessment of Corrective Measures for groundwater contamination at the closed, unlined Feltonsville Landfill. A public meeting will be held to review the document and receive comments on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Holly Springs Cultural Center, 300 W. Ballentine St., Holly Springs.
The contamination, which is within the property boundaries of the Feltonsville Landfill, was found during routine, regulatory-required groundwater monitoring for the closed, unlined landfill. The contamination does not affect drinking water in the area.
Citizens are encouraged to attend the public meeting to ask questions, provide feedback, and learn about the impact and corrective measures.
During the public meeting citizens will be able to review:
- Groundwater monitoring findings
- Corrective measures assessment
- Future monitoring activities plan
- Potential contamination remedies
- Schedule for corrective measures
