
Wake County joined thousands of organizers holding recycling events across the country to celebrate America Recycles Day, every November 15, a national initiative of Keep America Beautiful. 
The most recent Wake County Recycling Day event was held on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at the North Wake Multi-Material Recycling Facility, located at 9029 Deponie Drive in Raleigh (map). The event was FREE and open to all Wake County residents.
Education and outreach activities are available year round, not just on Wake County Recycling Day. Sign up for our Bathroom Recycling Initiative and receive a FREE recycling bin for your bathroom. Support our Food Waste Recycling Program and request a FREE kitchen caddy for your food waste (while supplies last).

Our special events sometimes include have shredding trucks on-site to provide residents with the opportunity to protect themselves from identity theft by disposing of confidential documents in an environmentally responsible way. Here are some useful tips to help you navigate the shredding lane faster:

Bring us your old, broken and unwanted electronics for recycling, including any household item with a cord or plug, such as:
Televisions, DVRs, video players
Computers, laptops, keyboards, printers
Microwaves, toaster ovens, toasters, kettles, food processors
Lamps, vacuum cleaners
Cameras, calculators, GPS, MP3 players
Blu-ray discs, DVDs, CDs, VHS cassette tapes
Please Note: Hard drives should be wiped before drop-off.

Many common household items are labeled toxic, flammable, corrosive etc... and should not be placed in your household garbage. Bring us your household hazardous waste items for recycling and safe disposal, items such as:
Paints, varnishes, stains (10-can limit on latex paint)
Pesticides, herbicides
Propane tanks
Batteries
Fire extinguishers (dry chemical)
Fluorescent light bulbs
Lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene
Mercury thermometers

Wake County waste facilities accept a lot more items for recycling than you can leave out at the curb, including items such as;
Clothes, shoes, books
Children's toys, car seats, strollers
Appliances
Scrap metal
Cooking oil
Wooden pallets
Large rigid plastics etc...
