Multi-Material Recycling Facilities accept waste that is banned from being disposed in landfills. The facilities accept materials from Wake County businesses and residents.


  • North Wake: 9029 Deponie Drive, Raleigh [map], 919-845-4540

  • South Wake: 6130 Old Smithfield Road, Apex [map], 919-532-9444

Operational Hours:

  • Monday–Saturday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m., Wake County residents and businesses only

  • Closed Sundays, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day

Acceptable Items:

air conditioners, dish washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, washing machines, water heaters

​Mixed Recycling (Aluminum, Glass, Paper, Plastic) Aluminum cans & foil, Cartons (aseptic containers), Glass bottles & jars, Magazines, Newspapers, Paper board, Chip board, Phone books, Mixed paper, Metal food cans, Plastic bottles, Plastic jugs (caps ok)

​If you have 5 or more tires you must bring a completed North Carolina Scrap Tire Certification Form (.pdf)

If you are bringing more than 30 tires to the South Wake Facility, you must call ahead and make an appointment at 919-387-4312. 

​Wood Pallets ​Limit 10 pallets per customer. Broken pallets are not accepted. If you are bringing more than 10 pallets, you must call ahead and make an appointment.
Please note that scavenging or removal of items from Wake County Solid Waste Facilities is strictly prohibited.
