School Enrollment and Projections
School enrollments for Grades K–12 have increased significantly since the mid-1970s. From 1975 through 2005, WCPSS added more than 66,000 new students, more than double its 1975 enrollment. Enrollment increases were modest until the mid-1980s, but have grown rapidly since that time. As of Fall 2013, Wake had an enrollment of 153,299** students in its public school system.
Wake County has also seen growth in Charter School enrollments. By the 2013-14 academic year, Wake County had 13 charter schools with a membership of 6,768 students.
