The first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend a Volunteer Open House. The class lasts approximately 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
We ask that our Volunteers commit to a minimum of 6 hours per month for a minimum of 6 months.
The minimum age to volunteer at the Wake County Animal Center is 16 years old. If you are under 16 years old you will not be able to volunteer with the center at this time. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must have a parent or legal guardian complete an application and volunteer with you. If you are 18 years old or older, you may volunteer on your own.
The Wake County Animal Center offers court-ordered or lawyer-suggested Community Service on a case-by-case basis, when available. Please contact Ricci Kearney at email@example.com
for more information. Thank you.
We do not provide service for any charges related to the following:
- Animal cruelty
- Crimes against nature
- False imprisonment
- Others left to our discretion
Orientations are currently being scheduled in small group settings based on applicant interest and availability. All orientations are held at the Wake County Animal Center in the Education Room, unless otherwise indicated. Directions to Center.
