A day at Historic Yates Mill County Park offers visitors an “Escape from the Daily Grind,” with experiences that interpret and preserve our agricultural heritage, environmental resources and history through educational programs, events and exhibits. The park is a wildlife refuge and an environmental research center, thus dogs (except service animals) and other pets are not allowed.

MILL TOURS:
You can get inside Yates Mill! Please visit our TOURS page to find out what days the mill is open and see the different types of tours we offer. Note that guided tours of the historic mill are from March through November each year, with costumed corn-grinding demonstrations taking place on the third weekend of each month.

RECENT FEATURES:
The park is featured in the June 2012 edition of Cary Living Magazine, in an article entitled "Milling Around; Family Time Goes Back in Time." This magazine and the mill-related article, which provides a great family perspective on visiting the park and mill, can be viewed online: http://www.caryliving.com/articles.asp.

The park was also featured in the Spring 2012 edition of the Tar Heel Junior Historian's "North Carolina History for Students" publication on Colonial Life. Historic Yates Mill is featured in an article entitled "The Miller and His Mill" that was written by a previous part-time park staffer, Ainsley Powell.
