The site, purchased under the Wake County Open Space Program in September 2013, offers:
  • Vehicle access, parking, and unloading area
  • Sheltered picnic tables
  • Non-motorized boat launch site from shoreline
  • ADA-accessible launch by short pier/dock
  • Access to see the gristmill site foundation
  • Interpretive signage about history and unique habitat
  • 1/4-mile boardwalk & walking path
  • Fishing platform with benches

Preserve Hours

PEAK SEASON summer hours from Mother’s Day until the first weekend of August:

Monday–Sunday, 8 a.m.–sunset


OFF-PEAK SEASON winter hours from first weekend in August until Mother’s Day:

Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m.–sunset


Preserve is also open on the following holidays:

Memorial Day, 4th of July/Independence Day and Labor Day
