Picnicking and Shelters


White Oak ShelterPicnic Shelters
Three shelters at Lake Crabtree are available for rental. Each shelter has a large cooking grill and tables, as well as its own horseshoe pit. Those renting shelters can check out horseshoes, volleyballs, badminton and softball equipment at no extra charge at the Maintenance Facility, first driveway on the left after entering the park.

Reservations can be made through the Park Office, beginning the first Monday of February (02/07/11) for the year 2011, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m (M–F, in person), or by calling 919-460-3390. Same-day rentals are not available. Cancellations due to rain are not allowed. Unreserved shelters may be used free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Dogwood and White Oak grilling surface is 29”x35”; Beech grilling surface is 35”x38”
  • One 10’ by 28” handicapped table at each shelter; all other tables are 8’ by 28”
  • Deposits will be refunded as long as the group leaves the shelter clean and undamaged, does not exceed shelter capacity, and follows park rules. (See shelter rules)

 

  • Picnicking
    Lake Crabtree has many individual picnic tables, with and without grills, scattered throughout the park, two of which are handicap accessible. These are intended for individuals to use free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis; maximum capacity is 12 people.

Please recycle! – Recycling bins are located at each shelter and throughout the park.
