Haunting at Harris: Land of OZ on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009

 

pumpkin carvingKids in costumes, stories to tell and a big wagon to ride...over 800 participants enjoyed the festivities at this year's Haunting at Harris  family event!  There were pumpkins carved, games played and prizes won! 

Dorothy said it best:

"There's no place like Harris Lake, There's no place like Harris Lake"
                                                                
    



Longleaf Festival on Saturday, August 29, was a success!


More than 400 visitors to Harris Lake County Park that day enjoyed all the activities, hay rides, food and family atmosphere of the inaugural Longleaf Festival.

There were exhibits and activities on wildlife, prescribe burning and pine needle basketry. Folks were entertained by the traveling teacher show that engaged kids into learning about the Longleaf pine without their even knowing!! Look forward to this festival each Fall at Harris Lake County Park!



10th Anniversary Celebration of Harris Lake County Park

...was a great success!

More than 700 people came out to enjoy Harris Lake County Park’s 10th anniversary celebration on Saturday, May 30, 2009! A host of entertainment including a bluegrass band, inflatables for the kids, a rock-climbing wall, nature activities, geocaching, live animals, and mountain bike and disc golf demonstrations rounded out the day’s activities. Wake County Commissioner Harold Webb; Chris Burton, Vice President of Progress Energy; and Sig Hutchinson, Chair of the Wake County Open Space and Parks Advisory Committee, all joined the festivities by saying a few words about the importance of our Wake County Parks for the enjoyment of our citizens and the wonderful partnerships Harris Lake County Park has established with Progress Energy and a host of other organizations over the years. Harris Lake County Park looks forward to providing continued recreational and educational opportunities to the citizens of Wake County for many years to come.
