Volunteers and park staff perform routine maintenance on the following areas:
- Hog Run Mountain Bike Trail
- Peninsula Hiking Trail
- Buckhorn Disc Golf Course
- Educational Gardens
*Each volunteer must complete the Wake County Volunteer Release Form and mail or bring to park before they can begin their volunteer work.

TORC Volunteer Workdays
Please join us for our mountain bike trail workdays. See a current schedule of workdays and RSVP on the TORC meet-up page
! Workdays include projects like adding new features, re-routing trails and general trail maintenance. Bring good gloves and work shoes. All tools will be provided. Meet at the Hog Run Bike Trail gravel parking lot. Workdays are three hours.
Nature Lab: Youth Serving Our Parks
Date: Tuesday, August 4
Time: 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Get a jump start on your service hours for school or other group service requirements! Experience the park from the ground level as you help park staff with removing invasive plants, planting native plants and general upkeep in the Educational Gardens and Natural Play Area. Bring a lunch and water bottle and wear close-toed shoes. Watermelon will be served after a hard morning's work in honor of National Watermelon Day on August 3.

Park staff relies on dedicated volunteers to help maintain the beauty and safety of Harris Lake County Park for its visitors and wildlife. Call to schedule a volunteer opportunity for an individual or group. An educational component is part of the volunteer experience, so call for more details.
