Volunteers and park staff perform routine maintenance on the following areas:

  • Hog Run Mountain Bike Trail
  • Peninsula Hiking Trail
  • Buckhorn Disc Golf Course
  • Flower Garden
  • Landscaping

*Each volunteer must complete the Wake County Volunteer Release Form and mail or bring to park before they can begin their volunteer work.

TORC Volunteer Workdays

Please join us for our mountain bike trail workdays. Check out the TORC meet-up page at http://www.meetup.com/torc-nc/events/calendar/ for a current schedule of workdays. Please RSVP on the TORC meet-up page! Workdays include projects like adding new features, re-routing trails and general trail maintenance. Bring good gloves and work shoes. All tools will be provided. Meet at the Hog Run Bike Trail gravel parking lot. Workdays are 3 hours.

Big Sweep Shoreline Cleanup Event

VOLUNTEERS WELCOME! March 24, 2013, from 2–5 p.m. Meet at 2 p.m. at the park office. Gloves, trash bags and data cards will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots. Volunteers will work until 5 p.m. Please register in advance by calling the park office at 919-387-4342.
 

 


 

Stewardship Days

Park staff relies on dedicated volunteers to help maintain the beauty and safety of Harris Lake County Park for its visitors and wildlife. Call to schedule a volunteer opportunity for an individual or group. An educational component is part of the volunteer experience, so call for more details.
  • Garden Work Day
  • Lake Shoreline Cleanup by Canoe
  • Fishing Pond Clean up
  • Wood Duck Box Check
  • Blue Bird Box Check
Ask about projects for Eagle Scouts, Silver/Gold awards and Scout troops.
