Volunteers and park staff perform routine maintenance on the following areas:
- Hog Run Mountain Bike Trail
- Peninsula Hiking Trail
- Buckhorn Disc Golf Course
- Educational Gardens
*Each volunteer must complete the Wake County Volunteer Release Form and mail or bring to park before they can begin their volunteer work.

Spring Big Sweep
Sunday, March 9, 1–4 p.m.
Meet at 1 p.m. at the Loblolly Shelter.
Clean up Harris Lake County Park! Staff will lead volunteers along the shore of the lake, along our roads and on land in the park. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots. All should bring a water bottle. Gloves, trash bags and data cards will be provided. Volunteers will work until 4 p.m.
Minors and students must be accompanied by an adult. Groups with minors must complete waivers prior to the event. Please register in advance by calling the park office at 919-387-4342.
TORC Volunteer Workdays
Please join us for our mountain bike trail workdays. See a current schedule of workdays and RSVP on the TORC meet-up page
! Workdays include projects like adding new features, re-routing trails and general trail maintenance. Bring good gloves and work shoes. All tools will be provided. Meet at the Hog Run Bike Trail gravel parking lot. Workdays are three hours.
Please join us on Saturday, February 8, at 9 a.m., for a mountain bike trail workday. This workday we will be working the North loop of the Advanced Section. We will be building two bridges in preparation for a short reroute.
Park staff relies on dedicated volunteers to help maintain the beauty and safety of Harris Lake County Park for its visitors and wildlife. Call to schedule a volunteer opportunity for an individual or group. An educational component is part of the volunteer experience, so call for more details.
