Nature in My Own Back Yard (for 6-8s)
(Registration begins Oct. 1)
Learn how to create a wildlife sanctuary in your own back yard! Participants will find out how to recognize and incorporate basic habitat components close to home as they learn about native animal and plant species requirements. We will conduct evaluations on our backyards and create a how-to blueprint for habitat success. Learn how we can positively influence some of the challenges faced by natural habitats, including air and water quality, and invasive species—all of this while engaging in hands-on activities, educational games and collaborative projects. Participants can act on what they have learned and apply for a Wildlife Habitat Certification on the National Registry of Backyard Wildlife Habitat (fee involved) or simply feel rewarded for having done a good deed for wildlife. Designed for children who are being homeschooled, this program series for ages 6-8 will meet from 1-3 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at the Blue Jay Center for Environmental Education
