Jr. Park Naturalist Challenge
Take the Wake County Parks' Junior Naturalist Challenge
Youth ages 5-15
Get started on becoming a Wake County Park Junior Naturalist. Register at any Wake County Park. Registration is FREE, but spaces are limited!
Here's the challenge:
Visit and participate in two programs, camps, events and/or volunteer opportunities at all of the following Wake County Parks:
American Tobacco Trail (Apex)
Blue Jay Point (Raleigh)
Crowder District Park (Apex)
Harris Lake (New Hill)
Historic Oak View (Raleigh)
Historic Yates Mill (Raleigh)
Lake Crabtree (Morrisville)
Challenge Begins: April 1, 2010
Challenge Completed by: August 1, 2011
Registered Junior Naturalists will receive:
- A Challenge Completion Card to record completed programs at each park.
- Pins with each park logo awarded to participants after the completion of two programs/camps or events at each particular park.
- A daypack made out of recycled fabric, awarded to participants who complete their entire challenge and can add their Wake County Park pins to showcase their achievement at becoming a Wake County Park's Junior Naturalist.
*On occasion programs may be canceled,so please contact park for reschedule.
Some Rules of the Challenge
- Challenge accepts only 100 participants each year.
- Child must be between the ages of 5 and 15 to participate.
- Participant must be registered in challenge to receive credit for program/camp/event.
- Registration must be completed before October 1, 2010.
- Participants still pay regular price for programs/camps and events that charge a fee.
- Child must complete entire challenge by August 1, 2011, to become one of Wake County Parks' Junior Naturalists.
- Child can only complete entire challenge once!
- Participants will be notified when challenge card is completed.
- Challenge prizes will be given out at one of Wake County's Special Events (different event designated each year), and participants will be notified of date, time and location of the specific special event.
- Child does not have to be a Wake County resident to participate.
