Candidate Filing Period Shortened by Legislature

Candidates for the October and November 2007 municipal and Board of Education elections will have only two weeks to file for candidacy pursuant to revised N.C.G.S. §163-294.2(c).

The filing period begins Friday, July 6, 2007, at noon and ends Friday, July 20, 2007 at noon. Candidates seeking office for the City of Raleigh or the Wake County Board of Education will file their notices of candidacy at the Wake County Board of Elections office. The Board of Elections is open for normal business hours weekdays 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Candidates for all other municipalities may file with either their respective Town Clerks or with the Wake County Board of Elections. Check with the Town Clerk for normal business hours.

The Wake County Board of Elections office is located in the Waverly F. Akins Office Building, 337 S. Salisbury St. (corner of Salisbury and Davie streets), Raleigh. Persons entering the building should be prepared to show photo identification to the security guard.
